O'Neil tried out for Season 3 of Canadian Idol in the early year of 2005, while in high school. She made it to the top hundred round after the judges praised her voice. O'Neil was praised highly from jury. However, she suffered significant defeats during the Top 10 week as well as the Top 9 week of the finals.
